Bourgogne “Les Foultières” 2023 Fiona Leroy
The Bourgogne “Les Foultières” 2023 is Fiona Leroy’s accessible entry-level wine, yet it clearly carries her signature. The vineyard, farmed biodynamically and by hand, was planted between the 1940s and 1950s on well-exposed east-facing slopes. The 0.5-hectare plot produces small, tight bunches, 20% of which are fermented whole to retain freshness and complexity.
Winemaking is traditional and delicate: hand-harvested grapes transported in small crates, gentle pressing, and spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is aged for 12 months in old barrels, without filtration, and with only a minimal addition of sulphites before bottling. This method produces a gourmand, medium-bodied Pinot Noir with a perfect balance of ripe black fruit, subtle spices and vibrant freshness.
On the palate, Bourgogne Les Foultières is immediate, silky and expressive, with soft tannins and a light, velvety finish that invites a second sip. Ideal as an aperitif, with light meats, snails with garlic, charcuterie or smoked sausages, and for casual convivial moments. This wine perfectly expresses the precision, elegance and authenticity of Maranges terroir and Fiona Leroy’s philosophy: respecting the vine, the soil, and biodiversity to reveal the true character of each bottle.
