Carema 2017 Sorpasso
The Carema by Sorpasso is a wine carved from stone, time and resilience. Born from hand-tended vineyards perched on steep, rocky terraces between 300 and 700 meters, this heroic Nebbiolo is a profound expression of the Carema terroir in Northern Piedmont.
Every step — from pruning to harvest — is manual. Vines are trained on traditional pergola and vertical trellises, farmed sustainably with full respect for the mountain ecosystem. The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, followed by extended maceration and aging in neutral oak, allowing the Nebbiolo to fully express its purity and finesse.
In the glass, Sorpasso’s Carema reveals aromas of alpine herbs, crushed red berries, spice and wet stone. On the palate it is vibrant and structured, with fine tannins and a mineral-driven core that speaks of its high-altitude origin.
This is not just a wine — it’s a tribute to slowness, craftsmanship, and to a remote land that rewards those who care for it with authenticity and soul.
