Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Charnières” 2023 Domaine Capitain Gagnerot
The Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Charnières” 2023 by Domaine Capitain Gagnerot is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown on silty-clay soils with limestone and gravelly alluvial deposits, a terroir known for producing wines of finesse, aromatic precision and graceful length.
The Les Charnières climat is one of Savigny-lès-Beaune’s most respected Premier Cru vineyards. Its name refers to a “hinge” or natural point of balance, and the site is renowned for delivering elegant, floral and finely textured wines, often more delicate than other Premier Crus of the appellation, yet still structured and age-worthy.
The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted and destemmed, followed by open-vat fermentation lasting around 15 days, with daily punch-downs at the beginning. Aging takes place over 13 months in French oak barrels, with only 10% new oak, allowing purity of fruit and terroir expression to prevail.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, crystal-clear light red color. The nose is subtle and expressive, revealing fresh red berries, rose and violet aromas. On the palate, it is well-balanced, silky and precise, with an elegant, lingering finish.
A Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru by Capitain Gagnerot that beautifully captures the finesse of the Côte de Beaune, perfect alongside white fish, poultry and delicately flavored dishes.
