Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore “Tenzone” 2019 Eleva
The Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore “Tenzone” 2019 is one of the most authentic expressions of the winemaking tradition of the Valpolicella Classica. Produced by Eleva in the prestigious Conca d’Oro of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, this red wine reflects the unique terroir where soils and exposures naturally enhance balance and finesse.
The blend (40% Corvina Veronese, 20% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella, with small amounts of Croatina, Teroldego, Merlot, and Oseleta) is hand-harvested in September. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine undergoes the renowned “Ripasso” technique during winter: a second fermentation on the pomace of Amarone and Recioto, which deepens the wine’s body, intensity, and aromatic complexity.
The wine then matures in oak barrels, where slow micro-oxygenation refines its structure, before a further 3 months of bottle aging that harmonize bouquet and palate.
In the glass, the Tenzone 2019 displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers notes of ripe cherry, dried plum, sweet spices, and subtle toasted hints. On the palate, it is rich, velvety, and persistent, with smooth tannins and a balanced freshness that supports its intensity.
Perfect with red meats, braised dishes, game, and aged cheeses, yet also enjoyable on its own as a meditation wine.
