Côtes du Tarn Rouge 2020 Domaine Plageoles
The Côtes du Tarn Rouge 2020 by Domaine Plageoles is produced in the IGP Côtes du Tarn appellation, in the South-West of France, from vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils. This cuvée reflects the estate’s artisanal and natural approach, crafted from 100% Syrah grown at high density (5000 vines/ha) and hand-harvested.
The winemaking process combines two distinct methods: part of the grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete vats, with early pump-overs to oxygenate the yeasts, while another part undergoes whole-bunch carbonic maceration, enhancing aromatic freshness. Both fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts and are kept short (8–10 days), preserving fruit purity. After alcoholic fermentation, the two batches are blended and aged for 6 months in vats, without filtration.
In the glass, it shows a bright, deep red color, releasing aromas of ripe black fruit, spices, and subtle floral notes. The palate is juicy and vibrant, with fine, well-integrated tannins that balance freshness and structure.
The Côtes du Tarn Rouge 2020 is a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, spiced dishes, or semi-aged cheeses. A true expression of the Domaine Plageoles’ commitment to natural winemaking and the authentic character of South-West France.
