Malvasia delle Lipari “Naturale Nurah” 2016 – Cantina Colosi
The Malvasia delle Lipari “Naturale Nurah” 2016 is crafted by Cantina Colosi to highlight the indigenous grapes of the Aeolian Islands, respecting their ancient winemaking heritage. The grapes are harvested late, in mid to late September, in the Capo Faro area of Salina, where the volcanic soils impart structure and minerality. Malvasia delle Lipari makes up 95% of the blend, complemented by 5% Corinto Nero, adding a touch of tannin and aromatic complexity.
Grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed, then undergo fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature for 20–25 days to preserve freshness and varietal aromas. The wine then matures for about one year in stainless steel and an additional four months in bottle, achieving a perfect balance of sweetness, warmth, and harmony.
In the glass, it shows a golden yellow color with greenish reflections, with a bouquet revealing honey, ripe apricot, and eucalyptus, accompanied by delicate mineral hints. The palate is full-bodied, warm, and harmonious, with a light tannic grip that enhances persistence.
Ideal as a meditation wine or dessert companion, it pairs beautifully with strong cheeses, sweets, and dry biscuits, fully expressing the authenticity and character of the volcanic terroir. The Naturale Nurah 2016 is a refined example of authentic Aeolian white wine.
