Lucido 2020 – Marco De Bartoli
Lucido is one of Marco De Bartoli’s most expressive and identity-driven wines, dedicated to the rediscovery of Sicilian native varieties. Among them, the Catarratto bianco lucido stands out for its delicate, luminous profile and for the shiny appearance of its berries, due to a lower amount of natural wax (pruina).
The vineyards, planted in the early 2000s and trained Guyot, grow on the hills of western Sicily, producing about 80 quintals per hectare with a density of 3,500 vines/ha. Grapes are picked during the second week of September, followed by manual sorting and gentle pressing.
After a 48-hour cold settling, fermentation begins spontaneously in stainless steel, thanks to native yeasts, with minimal use of sulfites. The wine matures for 7 months on fine lees in steel tanks, gaining volume, texture and aromatic depth.
On the nose, Lucido expresses notes of citrus, almond, Mediterranean herbs and white blossoms, enriched by a subtle marine minerality. The palate is salty, fresh and vibrant, finishing with the typical slightly bitter almond hint of the variety.
