Côtes du Jura Trousseau Cuvée Violette 2023 Domaine Courbet
The Côtes du Jura “Cuvée Violette” 2023 is crafted by Domaine Courbet, one of Jura’s most respected estates for natural, terroir-driven wines. The grapes come from a single 0.35-hectare parcel located on the steep slopes above Nevy-sur-Seille, at around 300 meters above sea level, with a south-west exposure.
The “Aux Maitresses” terroir is defined by deep calcareous gravels over clay, giving the wine finesse, structure and a distinctive mineral tension. The 20-year-old Trousseau vines are hand-harvested and farmed with a strong focus on balance and respect for nature.
In the cellar, Domaine Courbet follows a low-intervention philosophy: manual destemming, fermentation in stainless steel without added sulphur, and a 16-day maceration with gentle daily pump-overs to ensure precise extraction. Aging takes place for 10 months in second-use oak barrels, enhancing texture while preserving fruit purity and varietal expression.
The resulting wine is a vibrant and elegant Trousseau, offering violet aromas, crunchy red berries, subtle spice and earthy nuances. The palate is fresh, silky and fluid, with fine tannins and a mineral-driven finish. Production is extremely limited to 1,700 bottles, making Cuvée Violette a rare and highly sought-after Jura red from Domaine Courbet.
