Description

Domaine de la Borde – Arbois Pupillin “La Marcette” 2022

Domaine de la Borde, led by Julien Mareschal, works biodynamically since 2012 on 5 ha in Pupillin–Arbois.

“La Marcette” 2022 is 100% Chardonnay from Triassic red marl at 300 m altitude, hand-harvested, partially destemmed (30%), and cold-settled (10°C, 12–24 h)  . It ages 12 months on fine lees in large oak tuns (foudre) and stoneware jars, gaining texture, tension, and mineral precision.

The wine displays brilliant golden straw color. Aromas of ripe melon, gooseberry, and tea are enriched by herbal and spicy undertones. On the palate, it is fresh, saline, animated by a glyceric mid-palate for roundness, leading to a lingering, savory, slightly spiced finish—clearly reflecting its red marl terroir.

Ready to enjoy now, it can age gracefully for 8–12 years . Ideal paired with shellfish, creamy seafood risotto, fish in butter sauce, or delicate appetizers.

DOMAINE DE LA BORDE

Domaine de la Borde is a small winery nestled in Pupillin, at the heart of Jura, masterfully run by Julien Mareschal, a new-generation winemaker. After gaining experience in various wine regions across France, Julien returned to his native land to create genuine wines that express the true character of Jura’s terroir.

Since 2012, the estate has embraced biodynamic agriculture, cultivating vines with deep respect for nature, the land, and the grape. On 5 hectares of steep vineyards rich in blue marl soils, Julien grows Ploussard, Trousseau, Savagnin, and classics like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The high elevation and minimal intervention winemaking result in a lineup of expressive, vibrant wines that reflect both tradition and place—including his refined whites and the iconic Vin Jaune, a symbol of Jura.
