Côtes du Jura “Les Isles” 2022 – Domaine Courbet
The Côtes du Jura “Les Isles” 2022 from Domaine Courbet comes from a tiny 0.6-hectare parcel in the heart of the Baume-les-Messieurs valley, one of the most emblematic areas of the Jura. The vines, averaging 48 years of age, grow on clay soils with limestone, providing the wine with depth, structure and a distinctive mineral backbone.
Farmed according to organic and natural principles, the grapes are hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed to preserve purity and finesse. Fermentation takes place in used oak barrels, driven by indigenous yeasts, over approximately four weeks, with no racking—an approach that enhances texture and terroir expression.
The wine then undergoes a long and patient 24-month aging in used oak barrels (228 L and 500 L), allowing it to gain complexity while maintaining freshness and balance. Light filtration ensures clarity without sacrificing vitality.
On the nose, the wine reveals layers of ripe fruit, candied citrus, hints of hazelnut, salted butter and wet stone. The palate is broad and structured, lifted by vibrant acidity and finishing with a long, saline and mineral-driven persistence. Limited to just 3,200 bottles, “Les Isles” is a serious, age-worthy Chardonnay that fully expresses the depth and authenticity of Côtes du Jura terroir.
