Founded in 1869, Domaine Courbet is one of the most authentic historic estates in the Jura, located in Nevy-sur-Seille within the stunning Baume-les-Messieurs valley. For over a century, the Courbet family has been dedicated to vineyard-focused farming, now under the guidance of Jean-Marie and Damien Courbet. The estate’s 7.6 hectares, farmed under certified organic practices with strong biodynamic inspiration, produce expressive, terroir-driven wines from Jura’s emblematic grape varieties.

Established in 1869 in the village of Nevy-sur-Seille, Domaine Courbet is deeply rooted in the heart of the Jura wine region, set against the dramatic limestone cliffs and pristine landscapes of the Baume-les-Messieurs valley. Over five generations, the Courbet family has built a legacy founded on respect for nature, patience and an intimate understanding of their terroirs, making the domaine one of the region’s most respected names.

Originally operating as a mixed agricultural farm with livestock and cereal production, the estate gradually shifted its focus entirely to viticulture. This decisive evolution allowed the family to refine its identity and concentrate exclusively on crafting wines that truly reflect their origin. Today, Jean-Marie and Damien Courbet carry forward this heritage, combining traditional know-how with a modern, environmentally conscious vision.

The domaine spans 7.6 hectares of vineyards, mainly facing south and south-west, ensuring optimal ripening while preserving freshness and balance. The estate’s strength lies in its remarkable soil diversity. Savagnin, Jura’s signature grape and the backbone of the legendary Vin Jaune, covers 4 hectares on soils rich in blue, grey and red marls, delivering wines of power, complexity and exceptional aging potential. Chardonnay (3.05 hectares) thrives on clay-limestone soils, producing wines of depth, minerality and precision. The red varieties, Trousseau and Poulsard, grow on marl soils with limestone gravel, resulting in elegant, finely structured and highly expressive reds.

In 2004, Domaine Courbet began its transition toward biodynamic farming, a process completed in 2015. Since the 2016 vintage, all wines have been certified organic, reflecting a philosophy centered on soil health, biodiversity and minimal intervention. Today, Domaine Courbet stands as a benchmark producer in the Jura, crafting wines that combine tradition, authenticity and a profound sense of place, capable of captivating both collectors and passionate wine lovers alike.
