Ladoix 1er Cru “Les Hautes Mourottes” 2023 Domaine Capitain Gagnerot
The Ladoix 1er Cru “Les Hautes Mourottes” 2023 by Domaine Capitain Gagnerot is produced from 100% Chardonnay grown on pure limestone soils, a defining factor behind the wine’s tension, freshness and mineral expression. Domaine Capitain Gagnerot, a historic Burgundy estate, approaches this Premier Cru with restraint and respect for terroir.
The Les Hautes Mourottes climat is located on the higher slopes of Ladoix, near the Corton hill. Its altitude and limestone-rich soils promote slow grape ripening, resulting in wines with bright acidity, pronounced minerality and impressive length. This climat is widely regarded as one of the finest sites for Chardonnay in Ladoix, producing wines of elegance and aging potential.
Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted. After a gentle pressing of around 4 hours, alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels at approximately 20°C. The wine is then aged for 6–8 months in French oak barrels, with only 10% new oak, preserving the wine’s purity and mineral character.
In the glass, it shows a bright pale gold color. The nose is fresh and mineral-driven, with distinctive flinty and wet stone notes, complemented by subtle citrus hints. On the palate, it is lively, crisp and precise, offering excellent freshness, elegant structure and a long, saline finish.
A Ladoix Premier Cru by Capitain Gagnerot perfectly paired with delicate fish dishes, shellfish, and fresh or semi-aged goat cheeses, ideal for lovers of refined Burgundy Chardonnay.
