Vouvray Sec Le Haut-Lieu 2019 Domaine Huet
Founded in 1928 by Gaston Huet, the Domaine Huet is widely regarded as a benchmark for Chenin Blanc production in the Loire Valley. Among its most renowned parcels is Le Haut-Lieu, an 8-hectare vineyard located near Tours, planted on clay-rich soils that give the wines remarkable aromatic complexity and longevity.
The Vouvray Sec Le Haut-Lieu 2019 embodies the estate’s philosophy, being produced under biodynamic farming practices, which enhance biodiversity and respect the natural rhythms of the vineyard. The vines, averaging 25 years of age, are cultivated without synthetic chemicals, and the grapes are carefully hand-harvested to ensure only the finest fruit reaches the cellar. Vinification is traditional, with natural fermentations and a careful élevage that preserves the wine’s purity and freshness.
In the glass, the wine shows a brilliant golden hue. The nose reveals a layered bouquet of exotic fruits such as pineapple and mango, lifted by wildflower aromas, herbal hints and a subtle mineral-minty character. On the palate, it combines vibrant acidity with a rounded texture, creating both tension and elegance. The sapid backbone carries through to a long, refined and harmonious finish.
The Vouvray Sec Le Haut-Lieu 2019 Domaine Huet is a versatile wine at the table: ideal with lean fish, shellfish, mollusks and seafood dishes, yet equally suitable with delicate white meats or Loire goat cheeses. It is a Chenin Blanc that perfectly showcases the authenticity of the Vouvray terroir, striking a balance between freshness, structure and minerality, while offering great ageing potential.
