Côte de Nuits-Villages “Les Guillandes” 2023 Domaine Capitain Gagnerot
A true expression of Burgundy’s northern heartland, the Côte de Nuits-Villages “Les Guillandes” 2023 by Domaine Capitain Gagnerot is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown on stony clay-limestone soils resting on hard Bathonian limestone, a terroir known for delivering depth, structure and mineral tension.
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, followed by alcoholic fermentation in open vats for around 15 days, with daily punch-downs at the beginning to ensure precise extraction. The wine is then aged for 13 months in French oak barrels, with only 10% new oak, allowing the purity of fruit and terroir to shine.
In the glass, it shows a bright purple hue. The nose reveals fresh cherry, redcurrant and subtle spicy notes of black pepper. On the palate, it is structured and expressive, with firm yet polished tannins, a solid mid-palate and a dry, persistent finish.
This Côte de Nuits-Villages by Capitain Gagnerot is a refined and authentic Pinot Noir, perfectly suited to roasted meats, terrines, pork or veal dishes in sauce, and traditional Burgundian cuisine.
