Côte-Rôtie “La Giroflaire” 2017 by Patrick Jasmin is a masterful expression of Northern Rhône winemaking, crafted from a traditional blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier. The grapes are harvested by hand from 11 distinct vineyard parcels spread across the Côte-Rôtie appellation, each planted on a complex mosaic of soils—gneiss, mica schist, clay, limestone, sand and pebbles.
Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by an aging period of 18 to 24 months in barriques and demi-muids, with only a small portion of new oak to preserve balance and purity.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red color. The nose reveals layered aromas of ripe red fruits, black pepper, violet, and spice, with floral and mineral nuances. On the palate, it’s elegant, structured, and long, with fine-grained tannins and a savory finish.
Ideal with red meats, game, stews or gratin dishes, this wine combines Côte-Rôtie’s trademark power and finesse, making it a standout vintage for collectors and Rhône lovers.
