Morgon Cuvée Camille La Roche du Py 2023 Marcel Lapierre
The Morgon Cuvée Camille by Marcel Lapierre is a special cuvée named after Camille Lapierre – Marcel’s daughter and current co-winemaker – and also her grandfather. It comes from just 1 hectare of old Gamay vines (50 to 75 years old) planted in La Roche du Py, a prized plot on the Côte du Py with southwest exposure and shallow decomposed granite soils (roches pourries).
Grapes undergo a meticulous semi-carbonic maceration for nearly a month in wooden tapered vats, using no added sulfites and only native yeasts. The wine is then aged for around 9–10 months in neutral oak barrels (20 to 30 years old). The result is a remarkable Morgon that expresses the purity of its terroir with aromas of red berries, floral notes, spice, and a peppery edge, wrapped in a silky texture and vibrant structure.
Certified organic and vegan, this unfiltered natural wine can be enjoyed in its youth or aged for added complexity. Perfect with dishes like roast duck breast, game, or braised beef.
