Pouilly-Fumé “Argile à Silex” 2020 Domaine Bouchié-Chatellier
The Pouilly-Fumé AOC “Argile à Silex” Domaine Bouchié-Chatellier is a limited cuvée that perfectly embodies the character of Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley. Produced in Saint-Andelain, a village renowned for the quality of its wines, it benefits from exceptional soils composed of clay, silex and limestone, which impart complexity, minerality and finesse to the wine.
Only the finest grapes are selected for this bottling, harvested from carefully chosen plots. The winemaking process combines tradition and innovation: controlled fermentation preserves the varietal’s aromatic purity, while aging on the lees enhances roundness, depth and structure.
In the glass, “Argile à Silex” shows a bright, pale colour. The nose is refined and expressive, with aromas of white and yellow fruit pulp, citrus notes of lime and cedar, and elegant mineral hints that recall flintstone. The signature smoky touch of Pouilly-Fumé is present yet delicate, adding harmony and depth without overpowering the wine.
On the palate, it delivers a fresh and dynamic attack, supported by vibrant acidity and a precise balance. Its structure is fine and elegant, leading to a long, lingering finish with citrus and mineral aftertastes.
This Pouilly-Fumé is a versatile and gastronomic white wine. Perfect as an elegant aperitif, it pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, vegetable-based starters, aged cheeses and fine charcuterie. Thanks to its elegance and layered complexity, it appeals both to seasoned wine lovers and to those discovering the finesse of Loire Sauvignon Blanc.
