Vosne-Romanée 2023 René Cacheux
The Vosne-Romanée 2023 by René Cacheux is a classic expression of one of Burgundy’s most iconic villages. Wines from Vosne-Romanée are renowned for their sensuality, depth and finesse, making them highly prized among Burgundy lovers.
The vineyard spans approximately 0.73 hectares, with vines averaging 28 years of age, planted on clay-silt soils that contribute to the wine’s smooth texture and aromatic precision. Yields are controlled (around 45 hl/ha), and harvesting is done manually to ensure optimal fruit selection.
Winemaking follows a traditional approach: full destemming, fermentation in open vats with indigenous yeasts, and regular punch-downs for gentle extraction. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with around 30% new oak, enhancing complexity while preserving purity. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
In the glass, it shows a bright purple color. The nose is delicate and expressive, with aromas of cherry (griotte), raspberry and redcurrant, complemented by light spice and floral hints.
On the palate, it is broad yet fresh, with a well-balanced structure and silky, integrated tannins. The concentration is precise, leading to a long, elegant and slightly spicy finish.
The 2023 vintage emphasizes fruit purity and clarity, making the wine approachable early while offering aging potential of 8–10 years. A refined Burgundy that perfectly balances immediate pleasure and terroir expression.
