Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva “L’Impronta” 2020 Montalbera
In the picturesque hills of Monferrato, between the villages of Castagnole Monferrato, Grana and Montemagno, stands Montalbera, one of the most important wineries dedicated to the revival and promotion of the Ruchè grape. The Morando family owns around 100 hectares of vineyards in a single estate, along with additional plots in the nearby Langhe.
Montalbera has played a key role in the renaissance of this historic Piedmontese variety, helping bring Ruchè back from near obscurity and contributing to the recognition of Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG in 2010. The winery was also among the pioneers behind the introduction of the Riserva category in the denomination’s production regulations.
The Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva “L’Impronta” 2020 represents the most ambitious expression of the estate. Made from carefully selected grapes, the wine undergoes oak ageing that enhances its structure and ageing potential.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense and persistent, revealing ripe wild berries, followed by oriental spices, black pepper and subtle balsamic nuances. On the palate it is structured yet elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a long, harmonious finish.
A wine that perfectly expresses the personality of the Ruchè grape and the character of the Monferrato terroir, combining complexity, finesse and excellent ageing potential.
