The Pinot Noir Empreintes 2022 from Domaine Justin Boxler is a wine that deeply reflects the terroir, the grape varieties, and the family tradition passed down through generations. This wine results from a blend of different parcels located in the sunny soils of Niedermorschwihr, Katzenthal, Turckheim, and Ingersheim, predominantly characterized by granite soils.
Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, the marl and granite terroir of these parcels contributes to the wine's unique complexity and finesse. The harvest is done manually, ensuring the utmost care in grape selection and preserving the integrity of the fruit. The yield is 44 hl/ha, a quantity that ensures optimal concentration of aromas.
The vinification of Pinot Noir Empreintes 2022 is carried out using methods that respect nature and tradition. After manual harvesting, the juices ferment naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts, highlighting the authentic characteristics of the terroir. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks for a period of 12-15 days, during which malolactic fermentation occurs in century-old foudres.
Following fermentation, the wines are aged on the lees throughout the winter in large, century-old oak barrels, a practice that enriches the wine with complexity and depth. Finally, the wine is transferred to barrels of various vintages for further aging of four months.
The Pinot Noir Empreintes 2022 presents a deep red color. On the nose, the wine offers a fruity bouquet with slight smoky notes, adding an extra layer of complexity. The palate attack is broad and generous, with a well-defined structure. The finish is smooth and indulgent, making this wine particularly pleasant and accessible.
