The Bourgogne Pinot Noir “La Plante” 2023 from Domaine Naudin Ferrand exemplifies the finesse of Pinot Noir from the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where meticulous vineyard care and minimal intervention winemaking result in a fresh, harmonious and approachable wine. The vineyard is located in Pernand, en Bully, on deep clay-limestone soils with a south-facing exposure, optimal for balanced ripening. Vines are trained in simple Guyot, typical for young vines in the area.
Harvesting is manual, with a careful selection of grapes. Whole clusters are vinified without added sulfur, undergoing alcoholic fermentation in concrete vats with minimal extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs entirely on fine lees, and early pressing and bottling preserve intense fruitiness and freshness. Despite low extraction, the 2023 vintage shows a deep ruby color, surprising for a Bourgogne, and sufficient structure to benefit from brief decanting.
On the nose, the wine displays aromas of cherry, raspberry and small red berries, complemented by delicate spice and forest floor hints. The palate is fresh, soft and harmonious, with gentle tannins and perfect balance between fruit and acidity. It is the classic “bistrot” wine, easy to drink, versatile, and pairs well with lightly spiced grilled meats, grilled fish, rustic dishes, or a countryside buffet. The alcohol is present yet well-integrated, making the wine gourmand and instantly enjoyable for both young enthusiasts and experienced drinkers.
