Barolo Cerviano-Merli 2016 - Marziano Abbona
Barolo Cerviano-Merli 2016 is one of the most distinctive wines by Marziano Abbona, representing his philosophy of precision and respect for the Langhe terroir. The Nebbiolo grapes come from the Cerviano-Merli cru in Novello, characterized by compact, less sandy soils and a perfect southern exposure, which give the wine remarkable structure, elegance and longevity.
The vinification process includes destemming and crushing, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and daily pump-overs. After a long submerged cap maceration and full malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and then in bottle at controlled temperature before release.
The result is a Barolo of great power and refinement, opening slowly with complex aromas of ripe black fruits, dark tobacco, licorice, and spices, enhanced by a refined mineral note. The palate is full-bodied, with dense yet silky tannins and a long, persistent finish. A meditation wine, ideal for long aging.
