Carema Vigne Alte 2020 Sorpasso
The Carema Vigne Alte 2020 from Sorpasso represents the pinnacle of heroic viticulture. Sourced from the highest and steepest vineyard parcels of Carema — between 500 and 700 meters above sea level — it is a Nebbiolo of extreme purity and focus, born from hard manual work and deep respect for the mountain environment.
The soil is stony and poor, forcing the roots to dig deep into the subsoil, which results in a wine of vibrant minerality, tension and refined aromatics. Grapes are handpicked and sorted with care, fermented with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, and macerated gently for extended periods before aging for more than two years in large neutral oak casks.
The 2020 Vigne Alte is distinguished by its lifted nose of fresh red berries, alpine herbs, wildflowers, fine spices and crushed rock. The palate is taut, energetic and persistent, with silky tannins and a linear structure that promises outstanding aging potential.
This is not just a mountain Nebbiolo — it is a testament to craftsmanship, patience, and terroir, ideal for collectors and lovers of elegant, site-driven wines.
