Canavese DOC Rosso “Frenesia” 2020 Terre Sparse
The Canavese DOC Rosso “Frenesia” 2020 is a more powerful and contemporary expression from Terre Sparse, crafted from vineyards rooted in morainic soils with medium texture, a hallmark of the Canavese region. The vines, averaging 10 years of age, are trained using traditional pergola canavesana and Guyot systems, ensuring both quality and consistency.
Harvest takes place in late October, with manual selection and collection in small crates. The winemaking process includes an alcoholic fermentation with skin maceration lasting around 10 days, allowing optimal extraction of structure and aromatic compounds. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes a short aging in barrique, enhancing balance and complexity.
Bottled without filtration, the wine retains its authenticity and depth, followed by at least 6 months of bottle aging. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color. The nose is complex and layered, featuring ripe red fruits, sweet spices and hints of chocolate. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with rounded, well-integrated tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
“Frenesia” is intentionally crafted as a still, dry wine, standing apart from other slightly sparkling or off-dry local styles. This makes it highly versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with flavorful starters, rich pasta dishes and hearty meat courses. A wine that blends tradition with a modern, structured profile.
