Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato “’Na Vota” 2021 – Cantine Sant’Agata
The Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato “’Na Vota” 2021 by Cantine Sant’Agata is one of the most iconic expressions of this rare native Piedmontese grape.
Its name, “’Na Vota”, meaning both “once upon a time” and “a challenge” in local dialect, reflects the spirit of the Cavallero brothers, who in 1990 decided to transform Ruchè from a dessert wine into a dry, structured red—marking the beginning of a new era for the variety.
Produced from four vineyards with different soil and exposure characteristics, “’Na Vota” achieves balance and aromatic depth through this careful blending.
After gentle destemming and pressing with minimal sulfur use, fermentation takes place on the skins for 12–14 days at 27–28°C, with daily punch-downs. The malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness and finesse.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color with violet hues. The nose is refined and seductive, with violet and rose petal aromas, complemented by hay, vanilla, and delicate spice notes.
The palate is warm, velvety, and balanced, with smooth tannins and a long, aromatic finish that evokes flowers and sweet spice. Versatile and charming, it pairs beautifully with traditional Piedmontese dishes, roasted meats, and mature cheeses, or can be enjoyed on its own for its elegance and depth.
“’Na Vota” embodies the soul of modern Ruchè—tradition renewed through passion and vision.
