The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva “Spelt” 2019 embodies the essence and craftsmanship of La Valentina, one of Abruzzo’s most respected wineries. Produced from Montepulciano grapes grown in the Santa Teresa hills of Spoltore, this wine reflects the perfect balance between the Adriatic Sea’s freshness and the Apennines’ strength.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months of aging in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop its deep structure and complexity. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red color, revealing a complex bouquet of cherry, blackberry, violet, Mediterranean herbs, and cocoa, with mineral and balsamic undertones.
The palate is broad and harmonious, rich in flavor yet perfectly balanced, with firm tannins and vibrant freshness. The long aging gives the wine a velvety texture and a persistent, spicy finish. A superb red wine with great aging potential, ideal with roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses.
