Brunello di Montalcino 2015 – La Poderina
The Brunello di Montalcino 2015 from La Poderina is a refined expression of Tuscany’s most iconic red wine, combining terroir-driven character with masterful winemaking. Produced exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes, it comes from the vineyards of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, an area renowned for wines of exceptional elegance and balance. The rolling hills and varied microclimates of this region allow the grapes to ripen perfectly, developing complexity and aromatic intensity.
Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring only the best clusters reach the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (24–28°C), followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels with regular batonnage to enhance depth and texture. The wine then ages for a total of 44 months in steel and large oak casks, gaining richness and complexity.
In the glass, it reveals a deep garnet red color with brilliant highlights. The nose opens with aromas of blackberry jam, cherries, vanilla, and sweet spices, complemented by hints of tobacco, coffee, and rhubarb. The palate is intense, structured, and velvety, with smooth tannins and a long, lingering finish that showcases the authenticity of the Montalcino terroir.
The Brunello di Montalcino La Poderina 2015 perfectly balances power and elegance, making it a superb match for red meats, game, and aged cheeses, or to be enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine. An outstanding vintage with great aging potential, this Brunello reflects the heritage and prestige of one of Italy’s most celebrated wines.
