Brunello di Montalcino 2018 Col d’Orcia
The Brunello di Montalcino 2018 from Col d’Orcia is the flagship wine of this historic Tuscan estate, located in Sant’Angelo in Colle, one of the most renowned areas of the appellation. It represents a perfect balance between tradition, structure, and refinement.
Made exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown at about 300 meters above sea level, with full southern exposure and the beneficial influence of sea breezes, this Brunello is the result of meticulous vineyard management and a careful winemaking process. The grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously selected, then fermented in stainless steel with long macerations. The wine ages for four years in total, including at least three years in large oak barrels and one year in bottle before release.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color with garnet highlights. The bouquet is intense and complex, revealing layers of blackberry jam, cherry liqueur, sweet spices, incense, tobacco leaves, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and powerful, with firm yet elegant tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, harmonious finish.
A classic, age-worthy Brunello di Montalcino, ideal with roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses. Col d’Orcia continues to be one of the greatest ambassadors of Montalcino, offering wines of depth, purity, and timeless elegance.
