The Barbera d'Alba DOC 2024 by Francesco Rinaldi & Figli is a faithful expression of one of Piedmont's most iconic grape varieties. Alongside its celebrated Barolo wines, the historic estate founded in 1870 has long devoted the same attention to Barbera, producing wines that combine tradition, elegance and a strong sense of place.
The grapes are sourced from vineyards located in the municipalities of Barolo and La Morra, where different soil compositions contribute to the wine's complexity. The sandy soils surrounding Cannubi provide aromatic finesse and elegance, while the clay-limestone vineyards of Zonchetta and Boiolo add structure and depth. South and south-east exposures, together with elevations ranging from 200 to 320 metres, ensure balanced ripening and preserve the grape's naturally vibrant acidity.
Fermentation takes place in cement and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with at least fifteen days of skin contact. After pressing, the wines from the different vineyard parcels are blended and aged for a minimum of twelve months in medium-sized Slavonian oak casks. Several additional months in bottle allow the wine to gain harmony while maintaining freshness and varietal purity.
The wine displays a deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. The nose reveals aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, plum and delicate floral notes, complemented by subtle spice from oak ageing. On the palate it is dry, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, driven by Barbera's signature freshness and supported by soft tannins that lead to a long, fruit-driven finish with excellent ageing potential.
The Barbera d'Alba by Francesco Rinaldi & Figli pairs beautifully with tajarin, agnolotti, baked pasta, roasted meats, traditional boiled meats, grilled beef, cured meats and semi-aged cheeses. Best served at 16–17°C, it is a classic Langhe Barbera that combines freshness, depth and timeless elegance.
