The Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Roussot 2024 by Francesco Rinaldi & Figli captures the authentic spirit of the Langhe through one of Piedmont's most historic native grape varieties. Founded in 1870 in the village of Barolo, Francesco Rinaldi & Figli has long been recognised for preserving traditional winemaking practices, producing wines that faithfully express both grape variety and origin.
The grapes come from vineyards located between Barolo, near the historic Cannubi area, and the slopes facing La Morra. Sandy soils in Barolo and more compact soils in La Morra, combined with south-west exposure, create ideal growing conditions that favour balanced ripening and aromatic complexity.
After careful grape selection, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with approximately fifteen days of skin contact to gently extract colour, flavour and soft tannins. The wine then spends several months in stainless steel, allowing it to retain its freshness, vibrant fruit character and unmistakable varietal identity.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet opens with aromas of fresh red berries, cherry, violet and delicate floral notes, supported by a pleasant youthful vinosity. On the palate it is dry, smooth and well balanced, with gentle tannins framing the fruit before leading to the classic subtle almond finish that defines traditional Dolcetto.
The Dolcetto d'Alba Roussot 2024 is an ideal companion for everyday dining. It pairs beautifully with Italian cured meats, traditional antipasti, pasta dishes, meat sauces, roasted poultry and semi-aged cheeses. Best enjoyed within one to two years of the vintage to fully appreciate its freshness and lively character.
