Barolo Castiglione 2018 Vietti
Barolo Castiglione by Vietti is a benchmark Barolo and an ideal gateway to this esteemed producer’s lineup. It is crafted from a selection of Nebbiolo grapes sourced from premium sites in several historic Barolo villages, including Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, Monforte, La Morra, Novello, and Serralunga d’Alba. This multi-vineyard blend is designed to showcase the full range of the Langhe’s diverse terroirs.
The vineyards range from 10 to 45 years of age, growing on marl, clay, and limestone soils at elevations between 250 and 400 meters. Each parcel is vinified separately, with fermentation in steel tanks, long skin contact, and aging in a mix of large Slavonian oak casks, barriques, and bottle for about 30 months total.
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet red color. The nose is rich and layered, offering ripe cherries, rose petals, forest floor, tobacco, and sweet spice. On the palate, it is refined yet firm, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, mineral-laced finish.
A versatile Barolo for both early drinking (with decanting) and cellaring up to 20 years, it pairs beautifully with roast meats, aged cheeses, game, and truffle-infused dishes.
