The Bolgheri Rosso 2021 Le Macchiole is a refined expression of the Bolgheri DOC, a coastal area in Tuscany known worldwide for producing elegant and powerful red wines. Though the youngest label from the renowned Le Macchiole estate, founded in 1983, it fully embodies the winery’s philosophy: authenticity, precision, and respect for nature. This wine blends Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, grape varieties that have found a second home in Bolgheri’s clay and limestone soils, giving life to wines of great depth and balance.
Sustainable viticulture and careful vineyard management ensure a pristine harvest. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by 10 months of aging in barriques, which enhances the wine’s aromatic complexity while preserving freshness and purity.
In the glass, the Bolgheri Rosso shows a bright ruby-red color with violet hues. The bouquet opens with cherries, blackberries, and wild herbs, enriched by hints of mint, licorice, and dried roses. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, with fine tannins and a lively acidity that adds tension and vibrancy.
Its finish is long, juicy, and elegant, leaving behind pleasant notes of red fruit and sweet spices. Perfect with roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses, but also enjoyable on its own for its balance and aromatic intensity.
