Sauvignon “Vulcaia” 2022 Inama
The Sauvignon “Vulcaia” 2022 by Inama is one of the estate’s signature wines and a fascinating expression of Sauvignon Blanc grown on volcanic soils in the Soave Classico area. Its name, “Vulcaia”, pays homage to the basaltic origin of the Monte Foscarino hill, whose mineral essence defines the character and depth of this wine.
Founded by the Inama family and now led by Stefano Inama, the winery has been a benchmark in Veneto for decades. “Vulcaia”, along with “Vulcaia Fumé”, was the very first wine produced by the estate in 1991, before the first Soave release in 1992 — a symbol of the family’s desire to prove that the terroir of Soave can shape international grape varieties in unique ways.
Grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards located between 30 and 150 meters of altitude, then destemmed and cold-macerated for a few hours before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by a short lees aging period to enhance body and texture.
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow color with golden highlights. The nose reveals layers of citrus, white flowers, tropical fruit and flinty minerality, while the palate offers fresh tension, balance, and a long mineral finish.
Elegant yet expressive, the Vulcaia Sauvignon 2022 perfectly embodies the marriage of varietal purity and volcanic character — a white wine of precision, charm, and great drinkability, ideal with seafood, shellfish or soft cheeses.
