Rosso di Montalcino 2020 Magnum Col d’Orcia
The Rosso di Montalcino 2020 by Col d’Orcia embodies the purest and most authentic expression of Sangiovese from Montalcino’s sun-drenched slopes. Produced in the Sant’Angelo in Colle area, this wine reflects the character of its terroir and the philosophy of one of the region’s most historic estates.
Col d’Orcia, a fully organic-certified winery, covers over 140 hectares of vineyards overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast. The warm, breezy climate and stony soils rich in marl and limestone create the perfect conditions for producing elegant, aromatic wines. The Sangiovese vines, planted at around 250 meters above sea level, yield grapes of outstanding balance and concentration.
After hand harvesting and careful selection, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with a maceration of about 12 days. The wine is then aged for nine months in large Slavonian oak casks and partly in tonneaux, followed by bottle aging to refine its balance and structure.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red color. The nose opens with cherry, raspberry, and red currant aromas, followed by floral and herbal hints, delicate spices, and toasted undertones. On the palate, it is fresh, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish.
Rosso di Montalcino Col d’Orcia is a vibrant, accessible, and versatile expression of Sangiovese. Its freshness and finesse make it a great match for Tuscan cuisine, pasta with meat sauces, grilled meats, and roasted vegetables — a true everyday interpretation of Montalcino’s timeless charm.
