The Chianti Gineprone 2020 Magnum from Col d’Orcia is an elegant and expressive organic red wine that perfectly embodies the Tuscan winemaking tradition. Its name, “Gineprone,” refers to the juniper plant, a symbol of the Mediterranean landscape, recalling the herbal and spicy character that defines this Chianti’s personality.
Composed of 85% Sangiovese and a small percentage of international varieties, this wine comes from Col d’Orcia’s own vineyards located in the Siena area, cultivated according to certified organic practices. The grapes are hand-picked at full ripeness, ensuring optimal quality. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages for at least four months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by several months of bottle refinement before release.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red color. The bouquet is rich and inviting, opening with notes of cherry jam, wild berries, and plum, evolving toward sweet spices, toasted wood, and juniper. On the palate, it is warm, full-bodied, and well-balanced, featuring soft, mature tannins and a persistent, flavorful finish that highlights its Sangiovese soul.
