Poggio alle Gazze 2020 Ornellaia
The Poggio alle Gazze 2020 is the prestigious white wine from Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, a label that powerfully expresses Tuscan excellence in white wine production alongside its renowned reds. The blend consists mainly of Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Vermentino, with a small percentage of Petit Manseng added depending on the vintage.
Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates, carefully selected, and gently pressed. The must undergoes fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks, cement vats, and new and used barriques, followed by approximately 6 months of aging on fine lees with frequent bâtonnage. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve its freshness and vibrant structure.
After bottling, Poggio alle Gazze matures for another 12 months in the bottle, developing complexity and harmony.
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow color with intense and refined aromas of fresh citrus, exotic fruits like mango and passion fruit, complemented by white flowers and aromatic hints of sage and sweet spices.
On the palate, Poggio alle Gazze 2020 is soft, enveloping, elegant, and highly expressive, offering a juicy, vibrant, and clean sip that leaves a pleasant sensation of freshness and minerality. Its sumptuous structure and ripe fruity character make it a standout white wine with strong personality from Tuscany, perfect to pair with fish dishes, shellfish, white meats, and Mediterranean cuisine.
