Vino Bianco “Vecchie Tonneaux” 2022 Monte Maletto
“Vecchie Tonneaux” is an artisanal white wine from Monte Maletto, a micro-winery located in Carema, at the gateway to the Aosta Valley. Made from a historic native grape typical of northern Piedmont, this wine captures the soul of the alpine terroir through a careful and minimal-intervention approach.
The name refers to the winemaking process: spontaneous fermentation in used tonneaux barrels, followed by aging on fine lees for about 12 months. No racking, no fining, no filtration—just a pure, natural expression of place and grape.
In the glass, it displays a bright golden hue. The bouquet reveals citrus peel, white flowers, alpine herbs and wet stone, with a touch of spice from the old oak. On the palate, it’s taut and vibrant, with a razor-sharp acidity and a saline, persistent finish. A rare, elegant white from the morainic soils of the Canavese area, born from heroic viticulture and deep respect for nature.
