Franz Haas Manna 2022
The 2022 Manna from Franz Haas is one of the winery’s most sophisticated and iconic cuvées. It combines Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and Kerner, sourced from vineyards at 350–800 meters above sea level. Soils of varying composition — dolomitic, porphyritic, sandy, and marl — with southwest exposure, give the wine a layered, complex, and constantly evolving character.
Vinification treats each variety separately: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc ferment in barriques, while Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Kerner ferment in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wines are blended to harmonize aromatic components and aged on fine lees for around ten months. Further bottle aging adds elegance, depth, and longevity.
The Manna 2022 reveals aromas of elderflower, rose petals, and pistachios, with mineral and fruity undertones developing over time. On the palate, it is structured, elegant, and versatile, pairing exquisitely with high-end cuisine, especially Japanese dishes like sushi and sashimi. The complexity of the grape varieties and the balance between acidity and softness make each sip a unique experience, keeping the wine vibrant and lively over the years.
