Magari 2020 Ca' Marcanda - Gaja
Magari is one of the iconic labels from Ca’ Marcanda, the Bolgheri-based Tuscan estate of Angelo Gaja. A carefully crafted blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, it captures the essence of the coastal terroir while reflecting Gaja’s signature finesse.
The name “Magari” (Italian for “if only” or “I wish”) evokes longing and ambition — a fitting metaphor for this vibrant, elegant wine. The vineyards lie on ancient, mineral-rich soils of clay and sand, exposed to abundant sunshine and cooling sea breezes, which lend the wine both structure and freshness.
Magari reveals deep ruby color and aromas of ripe dark cherries, wild herbs, sweet spices, and a hint of graphite. On the palate, it is silky yet structured, with ripe tannins, bright acidity, and a long, saline finish that speaks of its Mediterranean origins.
Aged for around 12 months in oak, Magari is approachable in its youth but has the depth and balance to evolve gracefully over time. It’s a modern, polished interpretation of Bolgheri, marrying power and elegance in perfect harmony.
