Langhe Bianco “Cinerino” 2022 - Marziano Abbona
“Cinerino” Langhe Bianco 2022 is one of Marziano Abbona’s most distinctive creations — a wine born from the meeting of Piedmont tradition and Rhone Valley inspiration. After discovering Viognier in France, the Abbona family decided to plant it near their cellar, giving life to a white wine that merges international elegance with local character.
Its name, meaning “grey heron,” refers to the graceful bird that occasionally visits the small lake overlooking the vineyards, symbolizing harmony and natural beauty. The grapes come from 20-year-old vines, perfectly exposed on the hills surrounding the winery.
The winemaking process includes skin maceration with CO₂, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation in acacia barrels, where daily bâtonnage enriches the texture and enhances aromatic complexity. The wine then ages on fine lees for several months, developing depth, softness and structure, while avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve its vibrant freshness.
In the glass, it shows a bright golden hue and a captivating bouquet of acacia honey, white flowers, ripe citrus and light spice. The palate is rich yet lively, offering a creamy mouthfeel balanced by refreshing acidity.
Cinerino 2022 is a versatile and elegant white wine, ideal as an aperitif or paired with seafood, shellfish, risotto, and soft or blue cheeses. Serve slightly chilled, at 14–16°C, to fully enjoy its expressive bouquet and silky texture.
