Gattinara 2018 di Torraccia Piantavigna
Gattinara DOCG 2018 by Torraccia del Piantavigna is a classic expression of Nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte, grown on volcanic soils in the historic appellation of Gattinara.
The vineyards lie between 300–400 meters altitude, rooted in porphyry-rich volcanic soils that lend the wine its distinct mineral backbone. The winemaking follows traditional methods, with extended maceration and a 36-month aging in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by further bottle refinement.
In the glass, it shows a bright garnet hue. The nose is complex and expressive, with notes of wilted violets, black pepper, cherry liqueur, licorice and wet stone. The palate is structured yet elegant, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savory finish — a wine built for aging gracefully.
Ideal with roasted meats, game, mature cheeses and northern Italian cuisine.
