CREMANT DE SAVOIE EXTRA BRUT MICHEL QUENARD MICHEL QUENARD

MICHEL QUENARD
CSQEB

The Crémant de Savoie Extra Brut by Quenard is an elegant sparkling wine made from 100% Jacquère, a native Savoie grape. Vines are 30-40 years old, planted on limestone scree soils with southern exposure, giving freshness and minerality. Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and vinification under the strict rules of Crémant de Savoie. The second fermentation takes place in bottle with at least 12 months aging on lees, followed by disgorgement and Extra Brut dosage (0-2.5 g/l). In the glass, it shines pale gold with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose offers white fruits and citrus, while the palate is fresh, lively, and well-rounded, finishing long and elegant. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood, white meats, Savoie cheeses and desserts.

Description

Crémant de Savoie Extra Brut Quenard

The Crémant de Savoie Extra Brut by Quenard is a refined traditional-method sparkling wine from the Alpine region of Savoie, renowned for its fresh, mineral-driven wines. The Quenard family, long-standing interpreters of this terroir, presents an authentic expression crafted exclusively from Jacquère, the emblematic white grape of the region. The vines, averaging 30 to 40 years of age, grow on limestone scree soils with a southern exposure, providing the wine with remarkable balance, minerality, and aromatic freshness.

The production of Crémant de Savoie is subject to a very strict appellation regulation. Grapes are harvested entirely by hand to preserve their integrity, transported in small perforated crates to maintain perfect fruit condition. In the cellar, a gentle pressing and careful juice selection precede the primary fermentation that produces the base wine. The second fermentation occurs in bottle according to the champenoise method, with the addition of liqueur de tirage, allowing the wine to naturally develop its fine bubbles.

The bottles are then aged at least 12 months on the lees, resting horizontally until remuage and dégorgement remove the yeast deposits. The final step is the Extra Brut dosage, with a very low residual sugar (0–2.5 g/l), highlighting the wine’s precision, freshness, and tension.

In appearance, the Crémant de Savoie Extra Brut displays a pale golden hue with a lively, fine perlage forming delicate columns in the glass. The bouquet delivers bright white fruit and citrus aromas, enriched by subtle floral notes. On the palate, it combines crisp freshness with creamy effervescence, offering both volume and elegance. The finish is long, clean, and fruit-forward, leaving a refreshing impression.

Thanks to its versatility, this sparkling wine is an ideal aperitif or reception wine, but also pairs wonderfully with seafood, shellfish, white meats, and Savoie cheeses. It also complements both hot and cold starters, as well as not overly sweet desserts.

The Crémant de Savoie Extra Brut by Quenard is a true reflection of its Alpine terroir: authentic, elegant, fresh, and mineral, a perfect choice for those seeking a distinctive sparkling wine full of character and finesse.
