Vin de Savoie “La Nuit Nous Appartient” 2024 Domaine Les 13 Lunes
The “La Nuit Nous Appartient” 2024 from Domaine des 13 Lunes is a distinctive expression of Mondeuse, the indigenous red grape that defines the identity of Savoie’s mountain vineyards. In this interpretation, the variety is shaped with precision and restraint, preserving its naturally spicy character while enhancing elegance, freshness and balance.
The vineyards are located at approximately 450 metres above sea level, with east-facing exposure that ensures gentle morning sunlight and slow, even ripening. This cool alpine climate preserves acidity and aromatic clarity, key elements in defining the style of Mondeuse. The soils originate from an ancient glacial scree dating back to 1248, composed of a complex clay-limestone structure, which provides both tension and depth.
Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with careful grape selection. In the cellar, between 15% and 30% of the bunches are vinified as whole clusters, contributing to aromatic complexity and tannin refinement. Maceration lasts approximately 12 to 15 days, adjusted according to fermentation dynamics and the desired balance between extraction and finesse.
The wine is then aged for around 9 months in oak barrels, using a combination of new and used wood, along with larger vessels, to preserve fruit purity while gently integrating structure and complexity.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red colour. The nose is expressive yet refined, revealing blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry and red berries, followed by delicate floral tones and a distinctive spicy profile of black pepper, clove and subtle herbal nuances.
On the palate it is silky, balanced and remarkably elegant, with finely integrated tannins and a lively alpine acidity that gives energy and lift. The finish is long, spicy and lightly mineral, combining precision with a natural sense of roundness and drinkability.
“La Nuit Nous Appartient” is a characterful Mondeuse with ageing potential, ideally suited to red meats, grilled dishes, game birds and hearty alpine cuisine, offering a modern and refined expression of Savoie’s red wine heritage.
