Description

Barbera d'Alba 2023 Bartolo Mascarello

Barbera d'Alba Bartolo Mascarello is a Piedmontese wine made from Barbera grapes by the historic Piedmontese winery Bartolo Mascarello. It is a great interpretation of Barbera from one of Piedmont's greatest producers, aged for a long time in wood. The grapes come mainly from the San Lorenzo area, are carefully selected and then fermented with maceration on the skins for about two weeks, followed by ageing for at least 18 months in large casks. To the eye it shows a dark ruby red colour, with light purple reflections. On the nose it expresses a rich and complex bouquet made up of aromas of cherry and small red fruits, black cherry, floral notes of violet, oriental spices, leather, humus and undergrowth. The taste is deep, fruity and with silky tannins, for a savoury and balanced finish.

BARTOLO MASCARELLO

Bartolo Mascarello is a legendary name of Barolo and Langhe, a small producer who made the history of the appellation and of Piedmontese wine. Today the winery is run by Bartolo's daughter, Maria Teresa Mascarello, who carries on an artisanal production among which stands out, like a diamond, a single label of Barolo which, according to tradition, combines several crus in a single bottle.
