Sangiovese di Romagna 2021 Chiara Condello
In the heart of Romagna, in Fiumana di Predappio, Chiara Condello has chosen to dedicate almost five hectares exclusively to Sangiovese. Since 2015, her work has been guided by the idea of allowing the territory to speak through careful viticulture and an essential approach in the cellar. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic farming, with all vineyard work carried out by hand and only limited amounts of copper and sulphur used for plant protection. The same philosophy continues in the cellar, where intervention is kept to a minimum in order to preserve the identity of the grapes.
The Chiara Condello Sangiovese di Romagna 2021 is made from pure Sangiovese grown on poor soils characterised by a clay-limestone structure and rich in tuffaceous and sandstone rocks. The grapes are hand-harvested. Alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by a 15-25 day maceration on the skins, allowing extraction while maintaining the freshness and definition of the fruit.
After fermentation, the wine ages for several months in a combination of Slavonian oak casks and stainless-steel tanks. It is bottled without filtration, following a production philosophy focused on preserving the most authentic expression of Sangiovese and its place of origin.
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour. The nose is marked by red fruit and wild berries, complemented by floral nuances and a pleasant vinous character. On the palate, its defining quality is its balance: the structure is supported by freshness, with well-integrated tannins and a fluid progression that keeps the wine energetic from beginning to end.
Chiara Condello’s Sangiovese di Romagna is a distinctly territorial wine in the most concrete sense of the word: expressive, versatile at the table and free from unnecessary embellishment. A contemporary interpretation of Romagna, where freshness, authenticity and drinkability form the core of its character.
