VdF Rouge “Le Ginglet” 2022 Tony Bernard
“Le Ginglet” 2022 comes from the village of Pupillin, in the heart of the Jura, one of France’s most distinctive and character-driven wine regions. It is produced by Tony Bernard (Philippe Bornard), a key figure in the local natural wine movement, known for his uncompromising approach in both vineyard and cellar.
This cuvée is made from 100% Trousseau, a native Jura grape variety capable of producing some of the most delicate and expressive red wines of the region. The vines grow on red clay and gravel soils, which contribute to the wine’s fine structure and subtle mineral expression.
Winemaking follows a strictly natural philosophy: spontaneous fermentation and ageing in foudre for 8 to 15 months, with no added sulphites. The goal is to preserve the purest expression of fruit and terroir, allowing the wine to reflect its origin without intervention or correction.
In the glass, it shows a pale, translucent red colour, typical of pure Trousseau. The nose opens with red berries, raspberry and redcurrant, layered with gentle spice notes and a subtle mineral touch reminiscent of wet stone and iron-rich soil.
On the palate, the wine is light, agile and highly drinkable, with a refined structure and naturally bright acidity. The fruit is pure and immediate, while the finish is clean, slightly saline and effortlessly flowing.
“Le Ginglet” embodies the essence of Jura winemaking: low intervention, strong identity and maximum drinkability. It is a wine that prioritises energy and finesse over weight, while maintaining a clear sense of place and character.
It pairs naturally with charcuterie, roast poultry, white meats, rustic dishes and young cheeses, and can also be enjoyed slightly chilled as a vibrant, convivial red wine.
