The Pinot Nero Riserva “Praepositus” 2017 by Abbazia di Novacella is a flagship red wine from one of Alto Adige’s most historic and respected producers. Grown in the Cornaiano area, where gravelly, well-drained soils meet ideal climatic conditions, this Pinot Noir delivers a profile of rare refinement and complexity.
Grapes are carefully hand-picked and undergo a long maceration during fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for around 24 months in French oak barriques and large casks, enhancing its structure and depth.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color. The bouquet is elegant and layered, with notes of wild berries, cherry, dried rose petals, soft spices, leather, forest floor, and toasted oak. On the palate, it is silky and balanced, with well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long mineral finish.
A noble wine with Burgundian elegance, perfect for roasts, duck, venison, aged cheeses, and mushrooms.
