Pinot Nero Bio Riserva Mazzon 2018 Brunnenhof
The Brunnenhof Organic Pinot Noir Riserva Mazzon represents the pinnacle of Alto Adige winemaking, a wine that embodies tradition, terroir, and refined craftsmanship. The grapes are sourced from vineyards in Mazzon, at 400 meters above sea level, where conditions are ideal: sandy-loam soils that ensure drainage and finesse, exposure to the afternoon sun, and the cooling influence of the Lake Garda breeze. This microclimate, combined with a century-long history of Pinot Noir cultivation, makes Mazon one of the most prestigious areas for this noble grape.
Harvesting is carried out by hand, followed by fermentation in large wooden vats with two weeks of maceration on the skins. Manual punch-downs ensure a delicate extraction of color and aromas, while a small proportion of whole clusters is kept to enhance complexity. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for one year in 500-liter oak barrels, then for another 8–10 months in large oak casks, before resting for an additional year in bottle. This patient maturation process results in a wine of great structure, depth, and longevity.
In the glass it reveals a ruby red with garnet reflections, enriched by subtle brick hues. The nose is intense and layered, with aromas of ripe strawberry, juicy raspberry, plum and cherry, enriched by fine varietal notes and gentle spice. On the palate it is powerful yet refined: the texture is velvety, the tannins are elegant and well-integrated, and the finish is long and persistent, marked by a signature fruity sweetness typical of Pinot Noir from Mazzon. Perfectly suited to accompany game dishes, roasted pork or veal, grilled meat, smoked fish, and aged or spicy cheeses, this is a wine that offers both sophistication and emotion with every sip.
