Pigato 2022 Lupi
The Pigato 2022 from Cantina Lupi is a wine that tells the story of Ligurian winemaking. Back in 1961, Tommaso Lupi and a few pioneers were the first in Liguria to bottle and market Pigato and Vermentino, helping establish the Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC. Today, the Lupi family continues that legacy, crafting wines that express the region’s character with passion and precision.
The grapes are grown in the Albenga plain (Savona), a historic area for Pigato cultivation. The clay soils and southeast exposure, combined with the mild coastal climate, create wines of intense aroma and natural minerality. Vines are trained with guyot and traditional alberello systems, with around 5000 plants per hectare and a yield of 100 quintals.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel for 14–18 days, followed by aging for 4 months in steel and 2 months in bottle.
In the glass, it shines with a deep straw-yellow color. The bouquet opens with ripe peach, wild herbs, and floral nuances, while the palate is soft yet vibrant, revealing balance, freshness, and a long savory finish.
A bright, authentic white that perfectly matches grilled fish, seafood salads, or soft cheeses.
