Founded in 1960 in Pieve di Teco, Lupi Winery is a true symbol of Ligurian winemaking. A pioneer in enhancing Pigato, it helped establish the Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, crafting authentic wines such as Vermentino, Rossese, and Ormeasco di Pornassio. Today, under PEQ Agri and winemaker Alex Berriolo, Lupi continues to tell the story of Liguria through elegant, characterful wines.

The Lupi Winery was founded in 1960 by Tommaso Lupi, a 24-year-old visionary who transformed a 14th-century building in Pieve di Teco into a modern winemaking facility. His passion and foresight revolutionized Ligurian viticulture, laying the groundwork for one of Italy’s most distinctive wine regions.

In the early 1960s, Lupi became one of the first producers to bottle, label, and market Ligurian wines, contributing to the creation of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC. His greatest innovation was giving new prestige to Pigato, transforming it from a simple local white into a structured, age-worthy wine capable of expressing the unique character of the Ligurian coast.

Today, the winery cultivates its vineyards between Albenga, Salea, Campochiesa, and Pornassio, including the historic “Braje” vineyard for the Ormeasco di Pornassio, and the Cà de Berta and Cà de Pria estates, dedicated to the finest expressions of Pigato di Albenga.

In 2020, the winery joined the PEQ Agri Group, ensuring the preservation and elevation of this historic Ligurian brand. The continuity of its philosophy and style is maintained by winemaker Alex Berriolo, who leads production with the same dedication and respect for the land.

Lupi’s philosophy is based on strict natural principles, minimizing enological interventions to protect the authenticity and purity of the wines. Production remains limited, emphasizing quality over quantity and a deep connection to the territory.

The winery’s range — Pigato, Vermentino, Rossese, Ormeasco di Pornassio, Granaccia, and Lumassina — represents the soul of Ligurian biodiversity, where the mountains meet the sea in a delicate balance of freshness, minerality, and elegance.
